All drug abuse involves negative psychological, social, physiological, and spiritual effects on the individual and the community – home, neighborhood, and country.

Each individual has value and a positive purpose in life and through recovery can realize that value and purpose. Each individual is responsible for his or her own recovery. The community can support recovery through education, intervention, counseling, medical treatment, consultation, and research. Structured integrated treatment services, programs, and educational presentations can provide an initial and ongoing foundation for recovery.
