Youth Services

Adolescent Programs

Teen Recovery Centers
The TRCs provide substance abuse treatment, recovery, and education for adolescent participants who are using, misusing, or abusing alcohol and/or other drugs. The centers schedule services to reflect school schedules in their areas to make participation convenient for the teens. To meet the unique needs of participants, program services are individualized to meet the needs of each client. Aftercare, family counseling, and education are also offered. Services include educational groups, process groups, individual counseling, recovery supportive activities, aftercare, and dual diagnosis (co-occurring disorders) services. Participants attend workshops on a wide variety of topics, including AOD education, health education, HIV education, and life skills. The TRCs focus services on the population reflected in the geographic area of each center, including rural services. All adolescent services reflect the special learning needs of this age group, as well as the impacts of peer pressure and other adolescent stressors.

Specialized Adolescent Services

Under special contract with schools and school districts throughout San Diego County, McAlister Institute provides on-site services within specific middle schools and high schools. These service locations provide on-site services during the regularly-scheduled school year and make service delivery for teens convenient and readily available.

Other contracted services include on-site drug testing, substance abuse education, anger management workshops (a series of lessons over a specified period of time), as well as other life skills applications.

Services can be individualized based on the needs of individual schools or school districts. Costs are minimal and are negotiated based on the requirements expressed. Our highly qualified and motivated staff, who are familiar with the challenges and rewards of working with an adolescent population, are available to provide these comprehensive services.

To explore any services idea for school districts, hospitals, community agencies (i.e., Boys and Girls Clubs, youth community centers, etc.), please contact McAlister Institute:
